Mindfulness is about making ourselves aware of our thoughts, feelings and behaviour in order to improve our life experience. This practice encourages paying attention to our thoughts and feelings so that we learn to respond to situations rather than just react to them. It teaches us to focus calmly on things as they are at this time, rather than how we would like them to be.
Practicing Mindfulness can bring inner calm and improve decision making — to me it is like learning to stop, feel and listen — a way to reconnect with yourself and everything around you before taking action or reacting.
Many schools are now teaching Mindfulness as it is considered an important life skill. I wish it had been taught when I was at school! But it is never too late to learn Mindfulness. There are many courses and books available to help learn this skill.
